Hello all. As you can probably tell, I haven't been very good at keeping up with posting here. I feel like it'd be rude to keep you waiting longer, so I guess I'll announce a hiatus until I can get the time to post here. All of you who follow me, who read this, and who actually enjoy this humble blog of mine, thank you so much. I seem to have bit off more that I can chew by having this, blog 1 of 3, existing. So, instead I'm gonna cut back. Senior year is very, very close. In a little over a week I'll be having to focus on so many things that ultimately decide my future.

Hello, it's been a while!

I'm sorry for the serious delay! I've been very busy with the Portfolio class, and I must say, I'm a different person after that week, in a good way.

This weekend, I saw the movie Inception. The whole thing was so good that I want to see it again, this time I'd watch it a little closer, because this movie has great depth to it. I'm really surprised!

The next day, Joey and I went to the Plaza, our city's go-to spot that I rarely go to, sadly. And if it weren't for the awful heat, I'd say the day was perfect. I was afraid we'd be stuck spending loads of cash at somewhere ritzy for our meals, but both of them were taken care of cheaply, and honestly, you just can't beat Chipotle or Panera, in my eyes.

Just as a heads up, I've got a couple things I've been thinking of making a blog post about. I've just got to get it together, really.

So, the end of summer is getting closer. I'm not excited for that. AT ALL. D:

I mean, I'm really enjoying the summer I'm having! A summer of pen pals, art, being with Joey, more art, personal and fun art projects, this blog and it's amazing readers, and just so much...woah. I love it. I want things to be like this forever. Sadly, that isn't true.

Hey everyone! I know I've been a bit slow about blogging and all, but it's because of how busy I've been! Luckily, it's the good kind of busy. "My youngest son is seven years old and works a skateboard better than most teens. He also enjoys hunting and guns, playing baseball… and reading.

He went this entire season of baseball without striking out and has just finished an autobiography by a World War II vet. We don’t know which is more pronounced: his athletic side or his brainy side, but we enjoy them both.

His eleven year old brother, on the other hand, is easier to peg. He is not a sports fan and wears the title of: Nerd, with pride. Not long ago, I heard the following conversation:

Big brother: (pushing his glasses further atop his nose as he pauses in front of the football game on TV)

Running after a ball… I don’t get it and hopefully never will.

Lil brother: (eyes never leaving the game on TV)

I’d love to be a professional sports guy.

Big brother: (shaking head left to right and placing a condescending hand on his brother’s shoulder)

Just what the world needs, another unproductive citizen.

As a former college ball player, It took all their father had not to comment.

We’re your basic Southern family except we are not religious and we live down the street from a lesbian relative.

Cousin Jennifer is a red-headed photographer that loves dogs and all things girly. She also loves her long-time girlfriend, Judy. Judy is a gorgeous brunette who serves in the United States Army.

They are also a fabulous babysitting duo and my children request them anytime their father and I are going for an evening on the town. We have the same rules for them that we would have for a straight babysitting couple:

Just keep the kids safe and no lovey dovey adult stuff in front of them.

It works out very well. They play non-stop games and teach them interesting things. They are obviously crazy about each other and it gives off a very positive energy that my children soak in and release to those around them.

So, even at 7, he understands “Gay.” But until recently, we’ve never had to explain the issue of legality.

Yesterday, I walked into the living room to see him surrounded by all the paper guns he had been making. I saw the finished Civil War book at his feet. He was sitting Indian style in front of his brother who was gobbling down pancakes.

He glanced over at his older brother and then back at me. Something was on his mind. Suddenly, he blurted out:

Mommy, when will Judy break up with Jennifer?

I don’t think they plan on breaking up, I replied.

When they do, will she stop being my cousin?

Judy loves you very much, Honey.

I scooped him up to snuggle with him in my lap. I just had to nuzzle that sweet neck while he was still small.

They won’t break up, I assured. Why the sudden worry?

His brother chimed in:

Well, I explained to him that gay marriages aren’t allowed, here.

I see, I sighed.

I just rocked this little ball of confusion and stared off into space until I felt his warm tear reach my arm. When I realized he was crying, my chest tightened and threatened to burst open.

When his brother heard his little whimper he walked over and did his usually placing of “hand on shoulder”, but instead of the expected snark he gently asked:

Why are you crying?

His brother (lifting one little eye from under my arm) whispered:

They made love illegal.

To which his big, brainy brother replied:

Love isn’t bad… that law is."

I'm just going to leave this here. A little thought-provoking reading never hurt, you know.

So, remember when I said I've been looking at Japanese magazines like crazy? Maybe I didn't mention that before, but I am. One of the things I've noticed is how a lot of the crafts from more "normal" magazines can easily be love and carried over to work well with lolita lifestyle and culture aesthetics. Because Japan knows cute. They know cute well. And they have indeed perfected it. That being said, they've also capture my heart, personally, with the elegance in some of the projects I've seen. If only I could read the instructions! D: However, I'm pretty happy with the pictures. One magazine in particular, a painting magazine called Paint Craft, has really stood out to me. Now, it's not just for regular painting. As you can see in the picture, the painting is done to add flair to normal and possibly boring objects. What's great about the projects featured is the fact that they can be done cheaply (however not easily, unless you're a painting pro!). The objects needed are simple ones, whose design is more function of fashion, and to adorn it with beautiful paintings...well, you've got yourself a functional, fashionable, and one-of-a-kind show off piece. It's really great, and it reminds me why I love making and customizing my own stuff so much.

Now, for those who are wondering how they can make these into a more...loliable...sort, here's what I recommend:

Try and add lace, either literally or by painting it on there. Maybe even paint the lace with an interesting color, if you are indeed painting it. Try gold, silver, or other pearlescent colors to make the lace stand out.
Here's a sorta obvious one-Bows! There are many ways to paint/draw bows, simple or otherwise. They can be any color or pattern, and they look super cute.
Try thinking about what you're painting on. If it's, say, a watering can, flowers are ideal. However you can take this idea even further by painting the flowers or plants you'll be watering with that can. Make it truly yours!
Nothing beats a good label of who owns what. And if you're painting it, there's a pretty good chance you own it! Try painting your name on there and try to make it look good. Think about the font, color, and overall design of it, and maybe think about adding some small little painted flowers or hearts next to it. Think of motifs that describe you!
If you're not the best painter in the world, you might want to try this: Paint a design such as polka dots, stripes, or zigzags to add design without the need for painting talent. Great to do even if you are a good painter!

Well, that's all I can think of, and bedtime sadly approaches. Until next time, I hope these ideas are helpful, and you get inspired to do a whole new form of lolifying. Even if you're not much into lolita, these are still fun to do!

I'm sorry I've been gone for so long! I've just been very busy. Weekends always seem to catch me off guard. I haven't been slacking on my artwork, though, that's for sure!

I just got some really neat new supplies, mostly Bristol board, which I love. I got so many sizes of it...

I also got a small watercolor pad and some amazing watercolor pencils, which are really fun and convenient to use, once I got used to them. I just used them on a piece that I plan on posting soon!Probably on the other blog, but maybe on here, too.

In other news, I'm getting my computer ready for the big ol' trip me and my parents make every year to visit family down in Georgia. Sadly, there is no internet there...I'm not really sure how I'm gonna make it. xD Really, it's such a small town...everyone knows each other!

I've been downloading Japanese magazine scans right and left, loading up Adventure Time episodes, and of course, uploading music. I probably won't even need all this stuff, but hey, I overprepare.

I'm hoping I get a lot of art done on this trip, because it's nice going to a quiet place likee this for a change of scenery, and time to clear my head. I really hope I don't get lazy and forget about everything, though.

I think I should apologize for somehow switching the focus of this blog. Honestly though, I don't really mean for this blog to have a focus. It's just about me, I guess.

Also, I'm thinking about posting more outfit posts. Any objections? I just like doing them for the motivation to dress better it gives, and because it's nice to give a face to the text you constantly read.

Last night, I got to see Exit Though the Gift shop, a documentary about street art and a very odd French man, a film by Banksy.
Yes, Banksy, THE BANSKY.

This is not only a hilarious film with awesome artwork. Looking deeper, this is a parody of street art, even art in general? I know that sounds dumb to say, but if you watch it, you'll understand. It's worth your time, I promise.

Also SUMMER'S HERE, MAN.

Which means more time to post, draw, and alter 50 or so books until I'm satisfied. I'm also going to get to see Joey and play WoW more often. 8D

Okay, so if there's one sure way to inspire me visually, it's got to be paper.
Yeah, paper.

Most of the stuff I make is just started when I get some new paper to work with.
I can't even explain it well...it's just a thing.

Okay, so I know this isn't much of a reason to post, but I just wanted to say that Kyna, your art is still as awesome as always.

Annnnnnd....

I finished a project in school today. What's odd is that at the beginning of the semester, I found these to take months, while this only took a few days and I'm much more satisfied with it. I this I lose the idea of the piece if I work on it too long. I guess this is motivation to work faster and more constantly. Luckily, I hate not finishing things I've started, one of my few good traits.

I've started on the AP Art summer assignments already...a month, maybe two months ago?

Oops...I didn't do much, but yeah.

I'm pleasantly surprised to hear we'll only have to do half the amount I originally thought. Only 5, but of course, 5 very good ones.

I started with the one inspired by another artist/art movement, but I'm trying to see if Alfonse Mucha is associated with an art movement. I personally think he should be, as his work is so uniquely his, it's awesome. Like, favorite artist ever baby. Favoritttttee. (and sorry I said he didn't have the e at the end of his first name earlier, I just don't know why I thought that.)

Alright, I looked up his Wikipedia. Here's what it says:
"Alphonse Maria Mucha, first name from the Czech Alfons (24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), was a Czech Art Nouveau painter and decorative artist, best known for his distinct style and his images of women. He produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements, and designs."

Man. I want to be remembered like that. That's everything I want to do, right there. I mean, I wouldn't say I'd want to draw exclusively females, but you get the idea I'm conveying, yeah?

So guys, here's what I've been doing lately! This, and studying....

Summer will be here for me very soon, as I've got only 4 more days!
Now, a lowdown onto those drawings: They're all just stuff from my sketchbook, really. Nothing too special... the first one I started and completed just an hour ago, actually. Even though I'm for lolita over EGA, EGA's are really fun to draw...they look like they came out of a storybook!8D

The middle one was a character design for a comic I just couldn't make happen. Maybe someday? Maybe!

Oh, and the last one, is really just something I did in ballpoint pen for fun. It's supposed to be me, actually, but...not so accurate. ;-;
Maybe it'll get used in some sort of banner or layout...

I've been drawing so much more lately, and I'm glad. I need the practice. AP Art is next school year, and we already have summer assignments....

Naw, I ain't. I'm just spilling with gusto, I guess. Seeing as http://boodbyemomandad.blogspot.com/ decided to go and get himself a Blogger, I guess I should actually do something with mine.

I got my hair cut. It's pretty short now, short and bouncy. I've got that whole, Velma thing going on now. Glasses and a brown bob, oh my!

I also got to go to this thing called First Fridays around that time. It was really cool; a ton of art gallery-places and such opened their doors for people to come in a look around. There were a ton of people there, hipsters galore. Lots of inspiration for this little art nerd.

Going to this ending weekend; I saw Iron Man and Robin Hood. Iron Man was good, as expected really, and watching Robin Hood right after that was a bit odd, seeing as I'm going from seeing high-tech warfare to back around The Crusades, but it was still really cool. I'd say Robin Hood was a bit hard to follow, but no real complaints here.

I hope I can get on here much more, because after about 2 weeks of finals, I'm done for the school year, and on to summer! I have so many things I want to do. I'm really excited. I hope I can at least document them in this blog, whatever they are. I also hope I can put more artwork on here. I haven't finished an official piece in so long...feels bad, man.

Also, I'd like to make a portfolio site, but I'm a bit dry of ideas. Anyone have any? I want to make one that will have interesting content, but I'm not so good at that.

So I guess I'll take some time to talk about myself. That picture isn't relevant, or made by me, but it is amusing.

When I was younger, I was the most changing person you'd ever meet.

There were Hot Topic's finest (sarrrccaasssmmm) alongside the preppy brands of my age group, Hollister, Abercrombie, and the like. I put my spike collars with my overpriced jeans. I wore something totally different from the day before. I was myself, and I loved it.

Now, that was quite long ago, early middle school, actually. I was trying to find out about myself and I guess that's why my wardrobe was all over the place. As years passed, my obsession with Japanese fringe fashion grew, along with my knowledge about it and desire to wear it. I was known as an outlandish dresser during early high school, and people either loved or hated it. I was doing my best to emulate the now infamous decora style at the time. I honestly thought I was going to dress this way forever.

Eventually, I stumbled across more and more Japanese fashion groups online, and saw some pictures of girls in sweet lolita. Never had I thought something looked so perfect! I was growing out of decora and all that nonsense at the time, so it was like finding a missing puzzle piece. Once I found out the name for the style, and some brands for it, I E-stalked the living hell out of it, like I did with decora and "Harajuku fashions". I know a lot of girls were able to ask their parents to buy them that "Kawaii gothic lolita dress!!!!111!!!" but my parents just sort of laughed at me, and said I was off my rocker. To be honest, I'm really not allowed to wear dresses on a casual basis, because "chubby girls can't wear dresses" according to the self appointed goddess of fashion, my mother. It's annoying. I may be chubby, yes, but there certainly are dresses for people like me. My biggest worry is my bust area, really....

Anyway. So as you can see, I had nothing to do but research. I certainly did just that. When I found a Japanese GLB at a local anime convention, I flipped my lid and grabbed it right away. I acted the same when the english one was out. I hated having to explain to people "err, no, I don't own any items, but.....I really know what I'm talking about! Don't run off, please!" and all that rubbish.

But I guess that's all I can say about myself, 'cept instead of Angelic Pretty, I've grown more attached to AaTP and Innocent World. I like the fact they look like they came from a storybook. I also like Steampunk quite a bit now, too....

Anyway, for those who were wondering about me, I hope this answers questions and all that. Sorry if I bored anyone, though.

Haha, just kidding, but in all seriousness, I do apologize for not posting in so long. However, I return with much to say!

As someone who has been following the lolita fashion world since my middle school years, I can't help but feel awful for not owning any lolita clothing of my own. It's not that I don't want it, it's just that....well, there's many worries I have. They're a combination of trivial and somewhat important, and I'm pretty sure I'm overthinking things. But that's all in the past. Now, I've grown quite positive about building a lolita wardrobe that I would enjoy.

My current goal? Save up enough to afford a dress and some basics from Anna House. I hope the pannier and bloomers from there are good, heck, I hope it's all good. I want to buy some shoes to go with them, but I'm a little iffy, and I'd rather those be a separate purchase, as there could be some fitting ones in some local stores.....

Right after that? Assuming I'm in love with the Anna House dress, I'd like to pull together a full wardrobe with pieces from Bodyline. I have to be cautious, though, as some things from Bodyline aren't the wonderthing they seem to be. I've noticed the stuff with minimal detailing and such end up looking better in person. The prints, though knockoffs, still look pretty cute in their own way. The price for their bags can't be beat, same with most of their socks. I think offbrand is good for buying staples, and I can truly determine without hassle, whether or not lolita is the right fashion for me. Will the beauty fade once I can access the clothes? I hope not!

And so, I begin my money-saving journey for the frilly blue yonder. (And other colors, really.)

But lately, a change has begun within me. It's a crazy change that only I can understand.

Black, bland, mundane....the romantic blood reds, the romantic yet dark feeling of escape...it's beginning to all seem so appealing! Have I gone mad? Maybe a phase?

Who knows, all I know is that I'm reading Gothic Charm School, Victoria, Gothic Beauty, and Tea Time much more. I like this feeling. Even if I don't fit into anything, I'm just happy being true to myself. I can't lose my love for ruffles, of course, but I might be pairing them with skulls soon enough, heck, those ruffles may be a rich red, if I see fit.

(also, that's GCS's author in the picture, she's got lovely style, something I would wear everyday if I could....)

I hate to jump around subjects like this, but I think it's time to honestly buy that Classic Lolita dress from Anna House. I'm 17, I have the money, and I really think I can get away with wearing it in public somehow.

What I lacketh, is the balls. I have bought some seeds, and I'm in the process of growing myself a pair. No more excuses. Even if what I sport isn't truly lolita, then fine, as long I like how I'm looking.

Anyways, sweet dreams to all, I hope you all had a wonderful Valentines Day, my prince was sweet and did what he could, but seeing him today was all I really wanted.

Now, I must find an appropriate daydream to muse on, or a wonderful book to read.

Oh my goodness, I feel like an outcast. Am I the only one who's a little bit annoyed when I see this?

What I mean:

A sweet lolita has a blog, she has cute fashion, coords, and wonderful help in there. However, she is sensitive, not very down to earth, and over dramatic. She believes she is a princess and must announce it.

A gothic lolita (or EGA) has a blog. They also post their great outfits, and give some good advice. However SHE has to either act like a /b/-tard, or insult every aspect of the fashion so people don't call her a weeaboo or whatever crap she's afraid of. Is this really that better?

I just don't get it. Can someone please get in the middle and make a blog? They would be admired much more.

But whatever, that's just me. I made things a little extreme in here so ya'll got my point.

What a day it is....

Hello there. I'm going to make my first honest post now.

Today has been...hectic, as most Fridays are for me. I know it's sort of tacky to start blogging about my life as if anyone cares, but....

I was informed yesterday that "No Chelsea, the snow is too strong, so we can't celebrate your birthday in Olathe with Joey (boyfriend) until next week." Well that's just super. Really.
Just about as super as losing a toenail. Now, I look forward to a weekend of being buried in snow due to my parent's snow-paranoia. What joy, what joy.

But what really got me annoyed was the sudden responsibility put on my shoulders about 2 hours ago, I was informed that the anime club I essentially run (being one of the two people who actually try and pull things together for this 40-man club) was going to have to end over an hour early, and everyone would have to be informed near the end of the day somehow. You'd think I could just grab the intercom and announce it, but bloody hell, that's not how this public school rolls, apparently. So I've done my best to inform all the chattier students of the club that no, you must leave early, and sorry, it's a long story, not my fault. I've even found a way to possibly get it announced on our afternoon announcements. Though the problem is essentially solved, that along with an anatomy test and needing to catch up in my U.S. history is nothing I enjoy worrying about.

However, I feel I'm ranting way too much. I don't want to make some sort of pessimistic demeanor for myself. Actually, there's something good that happened yesterday that's still swirling around in my head. Yesterday, I went to art club, because hey, I love art. I ended up talking to Cullen, a good friend of mind pretty much the whole time. It was invigorating, the feeling of letting your thoughts out honestly and clearly without feeling like a total dork and actually being understood. I only get that about once or twice a week, when Joey's around. Boy, does that make me a wreck.

I guess I'll stop right here, because I feel I'm in too low of a mood to say anything worth listening too that isn't BAWWW.

So, I'm guessing this marks the starting point of my own personal blog. Not one tied to the notion of being some sort of comic artist, or some kind of t-shirt designer. Not some Facebook where honestly, privacy is dead. I'm sort of glad I'm here. There's always been things I've wanted to blog about. I really hope I continue to do so.

Anyways....let me introduce myself. My name is Chelsea, and I'm in love with things fancy and cute. I love lolita fashion, and any other Japanese fringe fashion you can think of. I like mostly nerdy stuff, anime and WoW included, and I have a weakness for manga. I love Steampunk fashion and enjoy wearing it, and sometimes I dream of a Steampunk world. I change, though, as in little time you'll find me thinking about princesses, and ponies, and other hyper girly sutff. I change quickly. Honestly, I sound like every other girl with a blog. But that's okay, I'm making this for myself. I can only hope you find my little talks and rants interesting. I'll try to update often, but it's not that easy when you've got school and a ton of other stuff under your belt. Sorry if I'm slow, folks.
